Clean and Simple {pond australia}

I love the simple display and clean feeling of this shop.  It reminds me of the shops in Paris that display individual piece but when you purchase they pull a freshly wrapped piece from the back.  What a wonderful way to shop!

books as art...

I love this over sized stack of books on display.  I have a huge collection of books - design books and novels etc that are stacked here and there and everywhere!  Do you love books.. Do you store them in a nontraditional way?  If so I would love to know!

I adore this dog art - it is amazing!  I love vintage displays of art in combination with other collections.  This is so fun and whimsy don't you think?  I am sure it is even fantastic lit up!

here and there..

It is funny how everyday is so different even when it seems the same.  One little meeting can change your outlook for the next year in a good or bad way, or maybe just in a different way.  It seems that no matter what comes my way, there is always something there to follow it up.  Yesterday was one of those days were you look at what is coming up and decide- oh this is going to call for some changes some improvements, some improvising and a little bit of making your own destiny.  I am looking forward to it!

I hope you had a wonderful week!  What did you get accomplished this week?  This is different from what are you doing this weekend- which is my normal question.  I feel like I had a very productive week and I am ready for a real break from work, time in the sun and with the family is on the agenda.

How did you like our first Designers at Home post?  If you are interested in participating please feel free to contact me as we would like to make this a regular thing here.

I fell for this photo and a million others on a blog I discovered this week.

Remanants of the Past 2012 {#2}

Rusty Clover was one of my favorite booths at the show, I purchased the most amazing vintage mirror from them for my collage.  Their booth was full of all kinds of goodies, something for just about everyone.

Another favorite was Melissa Blue, her display was beyond amazing.  It makes me wish I could live in a place piled high with vintage and no need to use anything.  I think by far one of the best styled booths I have seen in a long time.

 It is always great to see Blue Canoe, they are a husband and wife team that do the most amazing job collecting fantastic pieces from all around.  I was excited to see that they had the Olive buckets too!

My newest favorite is House Wren!  I fell for the re-purposed lighting and furnishings.  I picked up a couple of fixtures for a project that I am working on.  They are so perfect I cannot wait to see them in the space.  The styling in their space was so well done and the great mix of industrial and natural pieces was perfect.

I hope you enjoyed a little peek at the fall Remnants of the Past show.  I had a great time at the show and only wish I could have spent more time!

Holiday pumpkins

I think one of my favorite things about fall is the visit to the pumpkin patch.  I love to see all of the different varieties that have become so popular over the last few years.  I especially like the way we have progressed into the adult version of pumpkin carving and display.  These pieces from Martha Stewart are so fun, they make me wish I had some real carving skills.
 This year we are keeping with our tradition of having a little carving party for the kids and their friends at the house.  I am so excited and hoping to get it all together including the other fun games like bobbing for apples, and relay races!
 Do you have any traditions that you have started for Halloween?  Are you a pro at carving or decorating pumpkins?

This is the first year I have seen the really large white and pink pumpkins at the patch- loved them!

Antlers on display..

I love this look, although I am not sure it is safe to do in every home.  I can imagine my kids running by and getting snagged on them often.  It is such a contemporary take on the lake house or hunting lodge don't you think?
I often wish we had a second home to relax in a simple place where the days of work would disappear and the quite family time would commence.  I am curious how many of you have vacation homes- do you love them?  Do you use them? Are they summer or winter getaways or both?

A little of this..

Hello there, sorry for my absence yesterday... how quickly the days seem to pass.  Another busy week is almost ready to be put to rest and I am definitely dreaming of the weekend.  This weekend will be just us girls relaxing here at home, my daughter and me.  I am excited to take a little break from work and spend some time getting the house in order.
We start our final round on the kitchen renovation next week and I am excited and anxious about it.  There are still many choices to be made, that is how it is works around here.  I did speak with my furniture maker yesterday though and we are going to put a contrasting color in the new piece that will hold all of my everyday dishes, now someone needs to pick that color please!
I have pulled a bunch of greys, and greiges to start with.  I will be sure to keep you up to date on all of the selections.
 I am also working with the wonderful Shari from Little Blue Deer on a makeover for the blog, it will be fun to have a fresh new look around here don't you think?

Also, a little bit of a delayed THANK YOU to Leaf Magazine for including some pieces from the shop in their current issue!
