Dramatic dining..

I love the simple drama of this space.  The blank chalk board makes such a contrast from what we might normally see when they are used in decor.  The chairs and the chandelier are by far my favorite part of the otherwise simple space.

Cozy Nook...

I love a little place to relax and enjoy and isn't this just perfection.  I love the style of the cushions, which I am totally coping for our poolside cabana this summer.  That little touch of color is perfect and the light is just right.

Simply stunning in dark wood..

This is such a wonderful use of naturally dark stained wood in heavy doses.  I love it.  It feels like a comfortable home that I would love to visit!

Simple and clean with just that bit of detail is perfection..

Wishing you a wonderful Monday my friends!

Unique

I know I was going to post about our trip to LA today but the schedule just did not allow.  So I am sharing this amazing bar photo.  I love the unique construction of this piece, it is so very unique!  Lately it is harder and harder to come by really unique inpiration images and this one is just dreamy to me.

You can see more of the space here.

Also, congratulations to Andrea at The French Basketeer on winning the Nathan Turner book giveaway!

beach time.. San Clemente, Ca

I made a little promise to myself for this year, well several actually, but this one involves you my lovely readers... I wanted to include more original content here on the blog.  I have a deep love for photography and I used to spend a lot of time taking photos, but had really abandoned it last year in the hurried life I was leading.  I promised myself that I would pick up my "big" camera and use it, really use it, try to capture more of my life in photos, my work in photos and all of the things that I want to share with you.  I found that through my love affair with instgram, that what I love most is manipulating the photos I take and the artistic part of changing them to how I want them to feel.  I hope you don't mind, it is just time to evolve a little here.

I am hoping that it will also give us a chance to see a little more of California, as in get me out of the office a little more to inspire me creativity.  Besides who doesn't love the beach in the middle of January!

Wine bottles...

I have a soft spot for the re-purposed  wine jugs.  They are usually such a great natural shape.  I simply adore them with a little grouping of tree branches or full tropical leaves, the perfect accent.

tucked in..

This tucked in look gets me every time.  I am not sure if it is because it seems like such an organized idea or what.  I love the waist stools too, along with the pair of lamps.  My entry is a little smaller than this but it could be done.  What about you, do you have a large entry?  Do you use it or is it just a welcoming stage?

boho bedroom

Is this not the most charming room ever?  I love the layers and the split in the paint with the faded details.  So simple and amazing!

Wishing you a wonderful Tuesday.  It feels like the holiday season is really starting to kick in around here.  How about where you are?  Are you feeling it?  Does it feel like a pinch or are you easing into the whole thing?

a little green and white..

Totally loving the simplicity of white and greenery with natural elements lately.  So clean and simple- which is what I need to sooth my hurried mind!  What do you have planned for this weekend?  Just soccer games and work here but I am glad to have a quite schedule to try and get things back to normal around here.

Twins...

I just love this look and the headboards are pretty much amazing!  I love the idea of a room big enough to hold a pair of twin beds with a single table between.  Our next home will have one of these for visitors, can't you just see sweet little grand children sleeping in a pair.

Design Library: the natural home by hans blomquist

I was looking through some books over the weekend and realized that I needed to share one with you!  I picked up The Natural Home in a shop here locally one day and fell in love.  Of course the imagery is beautiful but it was the variety that really pulled me in.  There is a little something for most every taste and the mix of vintage is fantastic.   My favorite space that they explore and talk about is from Oliver Gustav.  His shop and is amazing.

Many of the images from this book have made their rounds on the web but I love to have a book to browse through at my leisure, I have more than enough according to my husband, but you can never under estimate the power of really turning those pages and the way your mind can wander.

Linen bedding..

I have been a huge fan of linen bedding for a long while now.  I simply love the softness of the sheets and the crumpled relaxed look of the fabric on the bed.  At first I was all about the natural color and now I am infatuated with the dark greys and the white.  This is what my bed seems to look like with the mix of the colors.. so natural and so relaxing!

Cement Walls

The texture of cement is so fantastic when it is natural or with a smooth finish and a small amount of nuetural color.  The color is truly an artistic endeavor.  I am using a custom made cement counter and molded sink in an upcoming project and I am so excited to see how they turn out. The finishes had the smallest differences and I really loved them all.

These walls are so amazing with the natural light in this picture.

Wishing you a wonderful weekend!  Maybe this weekend I will have a little time to take some photos of my treasures from the last few weeks of shopping.

Don't miss your chance to enter our giveaway for a Voluspa candle!

Seaweed art by Natural Curiosities

I am loving these pieces from Natural Curiosities.  They make my heart go pitter patter!  The charcoal grey is my favorite.. humm  where oh where could I use them.  Now I have to find a place for them.  I have seen them before but this image keeps on coming up and putting that oversized piece in my face!
